Why Sim Racers Needed a Better Way
For over a decade, Assetto Corsa drivers who wanted custom team liveries had to distribute multi-gigabyte ZIP archives across Discord servers. Drivers had to manually navigate to their steamapps directory, extract files into matching skin subfolders, and restart the simulation.
If a rival joined with an uninstalled skin, they appeared as a default generic car. If you updated a sponsor logo mid-season, everyone had to repeat the manual download and reinstallation process.
Instant In-Session Hot Swapping
With Live Livery Grid, liveries are packaged using modern Zstandard compression into high-efficiency .fshpkg archives.
- Zero game restarts: Skins swap dynamically in memory as soon as you enter the pitlane or grid.
- Automatic grid synchronization: Online drivers with the companion app automatically stream and display your assigned livery.
- Temporary cache hygiene: Uncompressed textures are purged on game exit, keeping local SSD usage to an absolute minimum.
Software Architecture
Native Desktop Companion
Built with high-efficiency native code for minimal memory footprint and zero CPU overhead. Runs unobtrusively in the system tray, communicating with the simulation through a dedicated secure local loopback IPC service.
CSP Lua Runtime Engine
Installed into Assetto Corsa's apps folder. Uses Custom Shaders Patch internal APIs to dynamically re-bind Direct3D textures in memory without touching original car files or causing FPS drops.
Cloud Storage & CDN
Backed by high-speed global edge cloud storage and a hardened cloud database. Every uploaded livery package is validated with SHA-256 checksums to ensure file integrity and prevent corruption.

Why Live Livery Grid is an Independent Platform
We made the strategic decision to separate Live Livery Grid from our commercial store into an independent, dedicated web application. Our store specializes in HUDs, whereas Live Livery Grid is a specialized real-time livery synchronization utility, cloud virtual garage, and open community sharing ecosystem.
Giving Live Livery Grid its own standalone home allows us to keep the interface 100% focused on in-game texture hot-swapping, cloud garage management, and driver telemetry without commercial clutter or store distractions.
